New Quilt, Old Quilt (2010, 2002)
(MORE COMING SOON!)

More about the old quilt and how it was made, and what its problems were: seams!

Generally: I decided to make a seamless quilt, by making all the sutures digitally. I scanned delicate fabrics (that could never be successfully integrated into a utilitarian quilt) and "quilted" them together in Adobe Photoshop to make the basic "swatch" unit, pictured below.
Then I found a website, Spoonflower.com, that could make my pattern into a few yards of fabric for me. I ordered two small swatches from them, of the pattern printed on different fabrics, chose between the fabrics when they arrived, and ordered then ordered three yards of fabric.
Specs: Quilting Weight Cotton: $18/yard ($16.20 with designer discount)
100% cotton fabric with a soft hand, easy to sew
Quilting weight: 3 yards (42" x 108"), half-drop repeat 300dpi x 1

Once I received the fabric by mail (which, to be honest, apparently took some time to be processed, printed, and delivered), I took the digital quilt cloth with me to fabric stores in Austin to find colors for the borders of the primary quilt side and to determine what the backside would look like.
